WE'RE ON VACATION!

mental health is a social justice issue

Did you know that Mental Health Awareness Month (also referred to as "Mental Health Month") has been observed in the U.S. every May since 1949? A number of national organizations—including Mental Health America and NAMI—spotlight this time, increasing awareness about the significance of and need for mental health. They also work to rid society of stigmas surrounding mental ills.

We recently introduced the MENTAL HEALTH IS A SOCIAL JUSTICE tee (available in two styles, as well as several colors and sizes) because we're of the opinion that the prevailing pathology-focused mental health paradigm is harmful on many levels, not the least of which is depoliticizing the experiences of those it separates from their environments. Find this T-shirt in our SOCIAL JUSTICE section.

FYI: World Mental Health Day is observed annually, on October 10th. Its primary objective is to raise consciousness of global mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental well-being.
